What to do before you leave.
Leaving Australia is actually the easiest part.
There are only a few things you need to consider.
- You MUST be vaccinated and have had at least 7 days since your second dose
- Have an International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
- Wear a mask at the Airport
What to do before you enter a new country.
This is where things get a bit more complicated...
Where can Aussies travel overseas?
Not everywhere, you need to understand the rules and requirements of each country you plan to enter.
These rules can change and some are easier than others.
Fortunately, smartraveller.gov.au has a really handy tool that can be used to find out every countries requirements and is updated regularly.
All you have to do is...
- Search your country in ‘destinations’
- Read the rules and requirements
- Plan accordingly
What to do before you return home.
The last and final thing to consider are the rules to re-enter Australia depending on the state you live in.
As of right now some states have no rules (TAS) and some are still quite strict (cough... WA).
To keep updated on the rules you can refer to the Australian governments webpage.
Just click on your state and read the requirements for re-entering.
Depending on the country you are going to and the state you are returning home to is what really dictates how easy travel is going to be for you.
Please keep in mind that these rules and requirements will likely change often throughout 2024, so make sure you are keeping up to date regularly if you plan to travel.
