5 Simple Steps to Travel the NZ Trans Tasman Bubble.
You don't want to be stressing out over what is meant to be a fun, relaxing experience.
Keep reading to know, step by step, what you need to do so you can make sure to have a smooth travel adventure.
Well, the good news is, it's pretty simple! 🎉
Here are the 5 simple steps to follow...
- Determine if you're eligible to fly
- Fill out an online declaration
- Prepare for health and safety measures
- Download the NZ COVID Tracer App
- Get the right insurance
1 - Determine if you are eligible to fly
If you don't meet the criteria mentioned, you won't be permitted to board the flight and you'll have to say goodbye to your travel plans.
But it's very simple, the criteria is...
- You are NOT awaiting test results for COVID
- You have NOT tested positive to COVID in the past 14 days
- You are NOT experiencing COVID symptoms
- You have been in Australia for the past 14 days
- Your state of residence is not currently under border closure
2 - Fill out an online declaration
You will be required to show your online declaration to the airline before your flight, otherwise you might be prevented from boarding.
Here's the link to the the "Quarantine Free to Travel" declaration form.
It mainly asks you about your travel plans and contact details.
You should fill this out after you’ve booked your flight because you'll need your flight number to complete it.
3 - Prepare for health and safety measures
The last thing you'd want is to end up contracting COVID-19 while you’re travelling.
So here are some safety measures to help prevent that…
First, you’re required to wear a mask when flying and when you arrive in NZ.
Masks need to be worn on public transport and domestic flights, otherwise, you could be fined NZ$300 if you're caught without a mask on.
So don’t forget to pack one!
Refer to our Ultimate Pre-Flight Checklist to make sure you haven't forgotten anything.
Second, health professionals will check your temperature and assess your health when you land.
At this stage, New Zealand is at Alert Level 1 which is the lowest restriction level.
You can keep up to date with New Zealand's alert level here.
4 - Download the NZ COVID-19 Tracer App
It helps to keep track of where you've been so that contact tracers can get in touch if they need to.
It also has information about hot spots and where to get a test which might be useful if you do end up getting sick.
You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google play.
5 - Get the right travel insurance
More insurance providers are including COVID-19 benefits that could save you a lot of money if, in the worst case scenario, you did contract COVID-19 on your trip, or your trip gets cancelled..
